Dogs, Film, and Football

September 20, 20251 min read

I just wrapped up a great trip to Brentwood, CA, where I was dog and house sitting for friends. It turned out to be a pretty perfect setup—I got work done, enjoyed some California sunshine, hit the pool, and bonded with Luca, who reminded me how much of a dog person I really am. He was such a delight that I almost started sketching plans to relaunch my old dog services business… this time with a twist: Luxury Dog Services—house sitting, dog training, plus pro pet photography and video. We’ll see... Not that I need another small business to manage.

While away, I launched the beta test of our new online community for Mighty Tripod Acting Studio (message me, students/clients, if you want an invite). My personal site, davidshogan.com, got a facelift too, and I’m back to blogging after a long pause.

Through it all, Angela kept me grounded—jumping in to help remotely for the Self-Tape Academy Online the same night she was nominated at the Sound On Stage Awards. She’s a force, and I missed her (and our dog, Bruno) company.

Next up: our short film A Trapdoor plays AFMX in Albuquerque - We screen in Film Block #11. Angela and I will be there to support the film, take in other screenings, and visit our friend (and former MTAS student) Michelle Shadday.

But first— the Seahawks host the Saints tomorrow. I’ll be in the stands, screaming with the 12s, confident that the defense with feast (even though the secondary is banged up) and hoping Sam Darnold continues to find his rhythm. We need this win. Home turf, loud crowd—let’s go, Hawks!
